Understanding Corrugated Box Construction
Corrugated boxes are a durable packaging material composed of three layers of paper. The inner layer is corrugated into an “S” shape, providing strength and cushioning. This corrugated layer is then bonded to a liner board to form a 2-ply, 3-ply, 5-ply, or 7-ply box, depending on the desired level of protection.
The type of flute used significantly impacts the box’s strength and performance. Flute C is particularly popular for printed cartons due to its balance of strength and flexibility. By selecting the appropriate flute, you can ensure optimal protection for your products.
